Gold or silver nisab?

If you own only gold and nothing else zakatable, the gold nisab (7.5 tola) applies. If your wealth is a mix — some gold plus cash, savings or silver — Hanafi scholars including the Banuri Town Darul Ifta advise using the silver nisab, because it is reached sooner and so benefits more people in need. That is the calculator’s default.

Bank zakat deduction (1447 AH (2026))

Under the Zakat and Ushr Ordinance 1980, banks deduct 2.5% on the 1st of Ramadan from savings accounts with balances above the government’s nisab — Rs 503,529 for 1447 AH (2026) (notified 16 Feb 2026; report). If your bank deducted zakat, subtract that amount from what this calculator shows.

What is and isn’t zakatable

Zakatable

Cash and bank balances, gold and silver (including jewellery, in the Hanafi school), trade goods at selling value, money owed to you that you expect to recover, shares held for resale.

Not zakatable

Your home, car and household goods for personal use, tools and machinery used in business, and property you live in. Rental property itself is not zakatable, but saved rent is.
